Who we are

With eighteen years of film and television production spanning New York, Los Angeles, and locations across the globe, Tyler has worked with some of the biggest names in broadcast — from Bravo and MTV to HGTV, Food Network, and Discovery Channel to name a few. A move to Western North Carolina in 2022, followed by the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, sparked a deeper calling: using his production skills to serve the community he now calls home.

Mad Moon Media was born from that conviction — a collective of passionate local photographers and filmmakers dedicated to stories that actually matter.

Tyler Rumsey

Thijs Boonen is a filmmaker and visual storyteller with more than 20 years of experience creating compelling video content across Europe and the United States.

Originally from Belgium, Thijs grew up in a creative environment that strongly influenced his artistic perspective. His mother, Hilde Keunen, was an established fine arts painter and sculptor, exposing him from an early age to the worlds of visual art, creativity, composition, and storytelling. That artistic foundation continues to influence his approach to filmmaking today.

Thijs developed his creative perspective working in Europe before bringing his passion for filmmaking and storytelling to the United States. His international background gives him a distinctive approach to visual communication—combining cinematic style, authentic storytelling, and a strong understanding of how to connect with audiences across different cultures and markets.

Over the course of his career, Thijs has worked across all aspects of video production, from creative development and cinematography to directing, editing, and final delivery. His experience spans commercial productions, branded content, promotional films, documentaries, and digital media.
